Eligibility Criteria
Category I (Lower Primary)
Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% marks and a two-year Trained Teachers Certificate (TTC) from the Kerala Board of Examinations or an equivalent. OR the same exam with at least 50% and four years of Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) Alternatively, Higher Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 45% and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education, following NCTE (Recognizing Norms and Procedure) Regulations 2002.
OR the same exam with a minimum of 50% and a 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education). Relaxation will be granted to various categories following the norms or as the Kerala government wants. OBC and OEC candidates are eligible for a 3% qualifying mark reduction. Candidates from the SC/ST and differently abled categories are eligible for a 5% qualifying mark reduction.
Category II (Upper Primary)
B.A./B.Sc./B.Com. and a two-year diploma in elementary education/trained teachers' certificate (TTC) from the Kerala Board of Examinations or its equivalent. Alternatively, B.A/B.Sc/B.Com with at least 45% marks and one year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.) following NCTE (Acknowledgement, Norms, and Process) Regulations issued from time to time.
OR Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks and a four-year B.A/B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed or B.Sc.Ed or the same exam with at least 50% marks and a four-year Bachelor's in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) Alternatively, OBC and OEC candidates are eligible for a 3% reduction in the minimum qualifying marks.
Candidates from the SC/ST and differently abled categories will be allowed a 5% reduction in qualifying marks.
Category III (High School)
Those who meet the minimum educational requirements outlined below are eligible to take the K-TET III.
HSAs in Tamil, Social Science, Physical Science, Kannada, Arabic, Urdu, Malayalam, Sanskrit, Natural Science, English, Hindi, and Mathematics are eligible to take the test.
BA/BSc/B.Com with at least 45% marks and a B.Ed. in the relevant subject (from any of the Universities in Kerala or any other University recognized as equivalent to that.)
Those with an MSc.Ed. A degree in Life Science from any of the Regional Institutes of Education and a minimum of 50% marks are eligible to apply for Botany and Zoology subjects.
Those with an MSc.Ed. Degree in the subject in question from one of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by NCERT with not less than 50% marks will be eligible to apply for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology.
